Option 1:


Step 1 Navigate to canvas.wcu.edu
 

Step 2 Login to Canvas.

Step 9 Then choose All Content (specific content can also be selected).

 

Step 10 Click on the Import button.

 

 

 

There will be a progress bar showing how much of the file has been uploaded.

 

 

 

Under Current Jobs you will see a status of Running. When it has finished you will see a green Completed button.

 

 

Step 11 Click on Home at the top of the menu bar to view the content.

 

 

 

 



Option 2:


For instructors that wish to have a local copy of their course saved to their device as well this method will also provide a backup of the course if needed later outside the LMS.


Step 1 Navigate to canvas.wcu.edu
 

Step 2 Login to Canvas. 

  

Step 3 Click on Courses.

 

Step 4 Click on the course you want to copy from (Source).

 

 


Step 5 Click on Settings.


Step 6 On the right side of the screen, click on Export Course.

 

 

Step 7 Click on the Create Export button.

 

You will see a progress bar.

 


Step 8 Refresh the page by clicking on the refresh button on your browser’s toolbar.

 

 

You will see the course you just exported in the Content Exports list.

 


Step 9 Click on the course.

 

A file will be downloaded to your “Downloads” folder on your computer.

 

 


NOTE: Unlike Blackboard this generates an IMSCC file – NOT a Zip file. Therefore, you cannot open it and interact with the subfiles.


 

Step 10 Go to the course you want to copy content to (destination).

 

 

 

Step 11 On the top right of your screen click on Import Existing Content.

 

 

 

Step 12 Click on the arrow next to Content Type.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 





Step 13 Click on Canvas Course Export Package.

 

Step 14 Click Choose file (The downloaded file that was created when you exported     the course. Navigate to your Downloads folder and double click on it.

 

Step 15 Then choose All Content.

 

Step 16 Click on the Import button.

 

 

 

There will be a progress bar showing how much of the file has been uploaded.
